How Studying with igroomschool Works

Welcome to igroomschool. Whether you’re studying fully online or completing theory alongside practical training, this page explains how our online learning works and how to get the most out of it.

Our courses are designed to be flexible, realistic, and achievable. That flexibility comes with responsibility, and understanding how study fits into your routine from the start will make your experience far smoother and far less stressful.

This page applies to all students. Please take a few minutes to read it before getting stuck in.

What all igroomschool students should know

1. Motivation matters

Online study is self-directed. While we provide study guides, timelines, recommended reading times, and clear deadlines, no one is standing beside you collecting work.

That independence is intentional. Learning to manage your time, follow instructions, and stay accountable is a valuable skill in itself and one that employers notice. If you can study, work, and meet expectations without being chased, that says a lot about your professionalism.

2. Set realistic study goals

Each lecture includes an estimated reading or viewing time before you even open it. Use this to your advantage.

Plan your study around your real life, including work, family, and other commitments. There is no single “right” pace, but there is a realistic one. Small, consistent progress beats last-minute catch-ups every time.

3. Build study into your routine

Online learning works best when it becomes part of your regular schedule.

Think about when you concentrate best. Some people are sharper in the morning, others later in the day. Choose study times that suit you, and treat them like a class you’ve committed to. Remember to allow for breaks, food, and rest. A tired brain doesn’t retain much.

4. Understand how the course is structured

Before you begin, take time to familiarise yourself with:

  • The course layout
  • Due dates and assessment points
  • How lessons build on each other

Preparation matters. Knowing what’s ahead helps you pace yourself and avoid unnecessary pressure later.

5. Use your support network

igroomschool courses are created by experienced industry educators who understand grooming, training, and real-world work environments.

If you’re unsure about something, ask early. Support is there to help you understand and progress, not to rescue unfinished work at the last minute. Engaging early always leads to better outcomes.

6. Acknowledge your progress

Online study requires discipline, and it’s important to recognise your wins along the way.

Completing a module, submitting an assessment, or grasping a new concept are all milestones worth acknowledging. You’ve already taken a meaningful step by enrolling. Keep that momentum going.

If you are studying online only

If your course is fully online, you have flexibility within set deadlines.

This means:

  • You control when you study, but not whether work is completed
  • Structure and routine are essential
  • Staying up to date prevents stress from snowballing

Many employers value online-only study because it demonstrates self-management, organisation, and commitment. Treat your study as professional development, not something to squeeze in when everything else is done.

If you are studying alongside practical training (Industry Certification)

If you are completing theory alongside practical training, your online study is not optional or secondary.

Theory and practical are designed to support each other. Online learning prepares you for what you’ll encounter hands-on, helps you understand why things are done a certain way, and supports safer, more confident decision-making in real situations.

Important things to note:

  • Some online components must be completed before progressing in practical training
  • Suggested timetables are provided to help align theory with hands-on work
  • Falling behind online can affect your ability to move forward practically

Online study is preparation, not homework after the fact. Staying on track makes your practical experience far more valuable.

A final note on responsibility

Flexibility does not mean optional.

Deadlines exist for a reason, and support works best when students engage early and honestly. If something isn’t clear, or life gets in the way, communicate sooner rather than later.

Our goal is for you to succeed, but success requires participation from both sides.
