    Who is this Course for?

    Salon Groomers

Accidents and health emergencies can happen to any dog undergoing grooming. This course helps groomers confidently manage common incidents like cuts, choking, or heat exhaustion, recognise signs of shock, and provide safe first aid until veterinary care is available. Essential knowledge for maintaining a calm, professional response under pressure.

    Mobile and Home Based Groomers

When you’re working solo, you’re often the first and only responder in an emergency. Learn how to assess situations quickly, handle injuries safely, and take the right steps for conditions like seizures or burns, all while keeping yourself and the dog safe until professional help arrives.

    The Whole Team

From trainees to senior stylists, every groomer benefits from first aid knowledge. This course gives your team the skills to respond to emergencies with confidence, understand vital signs, manage shock and wounds, and know when veterinary attention is required, ensuring consistent care and safety for every dog.

Would You Know What to Do in a Grooming Emergency?

Could you stay calm and act fast if a dog started bleeding, choking, or having a seizure on your table?
Would you know what to do first if a dog overheated under the dryer or collapsed from stress?
Do you know how to protect yourself when dealing with blood, bites, or other hazards in a grooming setting?

What’s Not Covered in This Course

This course focuses on the essential first aid knowledge every groomer needs - practical, safe actions you can take in a salon or mobile setting until veterinary help is available.

    It does not include:

    • Canine CPR – This requires hands-on training with a qualified instructor.
    • Administering medications or injections – Only a vet should prescribe or deliver treatment.
    • Diagnosing medical conditions – You’ll learn to recognise warning signs, not make medical diagnoses.
    • Advanced wound care or suturing – We cover only minor first aid and dressing; anything more requires veterinary attention.
    • Treating severe allergic reactions with medication (e.g. epinephrine) – You’ll learn to identify symptoms and refer to a vet immediately.
    • Animal transport or emergency triage – Guidance focuses on stabilising and seeking veterinary support.

Your role as a groomer is to recognise problems early, respond calmly and safely, and know when to refer. This course gives you the skills and confidence to do exactly that.

    Guided by Industry Experts

This short clip features Natalie West and Kim Sheridan, a qualified veterinary nurse, showing exactly how to apply vet wrap to manage an injury.
You’ll see the correct wrapping technique, positioning, and calm handling that help keep dogs safe and supported until they can receive veterinary care.
