How to read stress signals early, before escalation happens
What choice, agency, and co-regulation mean in practice
How to adjust your handling, pace, and environment in real time
How to communicate with owners about behavioural challenges

How to make decisions when a groom needs to change or stop
How your own emotional state influences the dog in front of you
Every groomer. Every level. Every setting.
New and trainee groomers
Build the right foundations from the start. Understanding behaviour early in your career means better outcomes for the dogs you work with, and fewer difficult situations as your experience grows.
Experienced groomers
You already have the technical skills. This course gives you the framework to understand why some dogs struggle, and what to do about it. Many experienced groomers tell us this is the course that changes everything.
Grooming assistants and support staff
Everyone who handles a dog has an impact on how that dog experiences grooming. This course is just as relevant for the people supporting the groom as it is for the groomer holding the scissors.
Meet the Experts
KATH ANDERSON - K9 KUDOS
Creator of the S.P.A.™ method for supporting dogs.
Kath began working with dogs in 1996 with a government-recognised Cert III in Dog Behaviour & Training, and has spent the years since helping families understand and work through behaviour. Her approach has grown into a holistic one focused on total wellbeing, using Freework and MHERA® to support regulation and emotional needs.
She has worked across shelter behaviour teams, prison programs, and therapy dog curriculums in schools, and in 2008 opened a wellness centre in East Brunswick offering low-stress grooming. She credits the dogs she has met as her greatest teachers, and encourages groomers to reach out with any questions about the dogs in their care.
